You can use AI to make product videos for TikTok Shop. TikTok Shop's Thai content policy allows AI-generated images, video and audio if they follow TikTok's rules. The page is dated 16 March 2026. What you must control yourself is this: the product in the video must be the product in the basket. Start with a photo that shows the whole product. When the video is ready, open your product page next to it and compare each shot before you post. We call this the basket-match test (ทดสอบเทียบตะกร้า in Thai). This page has a video made with GenLabs, with a table of what every shot tells the buyer. It has TikTok's own video numbers, each with the date on its page. It also compares TikTok's AI Video Maker with GenLabs.
An AI video that sells in TikTok Shop must pass the basket-match test
The basket-match test is a check you run before you post. Open your product page in your Shop next to the video. Stop on each shot (a shot is one cut of the film). If a shot does not match what the customer will receive, cut it or make it again.
The reason comes from TikTok's own pages. The TikTok Shop content policy (16 March 2026) has a rule for this. It is a violation if content does not clearly promote the product in the basket. Its example is "showing a product that does not match the item in the basket" (in Thai: การแสดงสินค้าที่ไม่ตรงกับในรายการที่ติดตะกร้า). The listing guidelines say product images and video must show the product "accurately" (in Thai: แสดงถึงตัวสินค้าที่จำหน่ายอย่างเที่ยงตรง) and reflect what the customer gets. TikTok's AI Video Maker page also tells you to check that the product in the video matches the linked product. AI makes video fast. Only you can see whether your real product matches.
| The shot must match | Where to check | What TikTok writes |
|---|---|---|
| The colour, shape, pattern and size of the product | The main image and other images on the product page | Images and video must show the product accurately (listing guidelines, item 4.5) |
| A brand name that is spoken or shown on screen | The label on the real product | Remove a brand name or logo from the voice, on-screen text, captions and hashtags if the linked product does not belong to that brand (AI Video Maker page) |
| What the customer gets | The "what is in the box" field of the listing | List all products and accessories that come with it (listing guidelines, item 4.6) |
| A price that is spoken or shown on screen | The price on the product page | The price must match the real price, and a limited-time offer must state its dates (AI Video Maker page) |
The table starts with what the eye sees. Rows 2 and 4 come from the check list on the AI Video Maker page. TikTok wrote it for videos made with its own tool. Letters on a label or on screen that an AI draws can come out wrong. GenLabs also asks you to check Thai text and product details before you use anything.
Prepare the product photo first: what TikTok itself recommends
A video can only show what the photo shows. If the photo does not show the whole product, the video cannot pass the basket-match test. TikTok's AI Video Maker page (21 September 2026) says photos that show the main product clearly work best. It recommends sharp photos of the whole product from several angles on a clean background.
Do
- Use sharp photos that show the whole product, from several angles, on a clean background.
- For the main image of the listing: a solid background (TikTok recommends white). The product fills at least 60% of the frame, with no crop. Show the front view. Square, at least 600 x 600 pixels (listing guidelines, item 4.5).
Avoid (TikTok's own list)
- Collage photos or photos with grid lines.
- Photos where the product is not clear.
- Lifestyle photos where the product is too small or unclear.
- Photos crowded with text, or with packaging covering part of the product.
TikTok adds one more rule. If you make several AI videos for one product, avoid reusing the same photos or clips. Content that looks repeated may be shown or recommended less. Keep extra photos from other angles for your next video.
If you have not shot the photo yet, read shoot a better product photo first. If the background is busy, remove the background from the product photo, free, no signup.
A product video made with GenLabs: one shot, one reason
One shot, one reason is the rule we use to read a product video. Each shot tells the buyer one fact about the product, and that fact can be found on the product page. How to check: watch each shot with the sound off. If one word names the reason for the shot (detail, fit, fabric, how to use), it passes. If you cannot name it, or you name two, the shot is not working yet.
This video is on the GenLabs website and was made with GenLabs. It is not tied to a real shop or product page, so we cannot compare it with one. The table below describes only what you can see. The woman speaks Thai to the camera. We do not quote the spoken lines on this page.
| Time (about) | What you see | The shot's reason |
|---|---|---|
| 0-3 s | She holds the fan beside her face, the charging cable hanging from the handle, and talks to the camera | The size of the fan |
| 3-6 s | A close-up of the handle. A finger points to the button and the charging port | The button and the charging port |
| 6-9 s | She turns the fan to show the back of the fan head | The back of the body |
| 9-11 s | She holds the front up to the camera: the blades, a small screen and a round button on the handle | The blades and the screen |
| 11-13 s | She turns the back of the fan head to the camera again | The back, again |
| 13-15 s | A high-angle shot of the fan lying flat on a dark tabletop | The whole shape of the body |
This example has no Thai text on screen. The only writing is English print on the fan itself (a brand name on the handle and a line on the back of the fan head), and this page does not name that brand.
This example is vertical 9:16 (720 x 1280) and 1.8 MB. Its spoken lines belong to the example and are not claims your real product can make. Use the facts of your real product in your own video. We have not posted this example to TikTok Shop, so we have no sales or view numbers to give.
Opening the shop, listing a product, and video specs from TikTok's own pages
TikTok has its own step pages. We summarise the outline and link them (read 30 September 2026). To open a shop and list a product, follow this order:
- Sign up in Seller Center with a TikTok account, or an email and a phone number. TikTok says an Organization Account cannot be used to sign up.
- Choose your country, then your business type, or choose to sell in your own name.
- Enter your warehouse or pickup address and your return address.
- Upload your verification documents. A sole trader uses the front and back of a passport, ID card or driving licence. A company uses the ID of its legal representative or director, and a business licence or registration document.
- Wait for approval, then link a bank account. The account name must match the registered name.
- Add a product at Products > Manage products, with the Add new product button. You can add up to 9 photos. Ratio 1:1, at least 600 x 600 pixels, up to 10 MB each. A video is optional.
TikTok writes these video numbers on four pages:
| Use | What TikTok writes | Page and the date printed on it |
|---|---|---|
| Video on the product listing | 1 video per product, up to 5 MB | TikTok Shop product listing guidelines (16 March 2026) |
| Video on the product listing (another page) | Optional. Recommended ratio 1:1, 9:16 or 16:9. Up to 20 MB | Add and manage products (27 August 2026) |
| Video made in AI Video Maker | Mixed real and AI footage: 15-30 seconds. All-AI video: 15 seconds | Create product videos with AI Video Maker (21 September 2026) |
| Short video length | 15-30 seconds lets viewers enjoy the information most | Key parts of a short video in TikTok Shop (27 January 2023) |
The first two pages disagree on file size. The product listing guidelines (16 March 2026) say 5 MB. The newer Add and manage products page (27 August 2026) says 20 MB. We do not know which one TikTok applies. A listing video of 5 MB or less passes both pages. Our example video is smaller than that. None of the Thai TikTok pages we read gives a resolution for product videos, so we give no resolution. The 15-30 second line in the last row is old advice from 2023, not a rule.
Image sizes and file sizes for each platform are in product image sizes for each platform, 2026.
TikTok pages used in this section: Set up TikTok Shop in Seller Center, Add and manage products, Product listing guidelines, Create product videos with AI Video Maker, Key parts of a short video. Except the first, these pages are in Thai.
Does TikTok Shop allow AI-made video?
Yes. TikTok Shop's content policy for Thailand allows AI-generated content, which includes images, video and audio. The page is dated 16 March 2026. You must follow the TikTok Community Guidelines and the TikTok Shop content policy.
The same page does not allow content made or posted to mislead, deceive or pass itself off as another person. This includes AI-generated content.
One news article from 25 September 2025 said TikTok Shop bans AI content in the basket. The TikTok Shop content policy page we read on 30 September 2026 does not say that. TikTok's rules can change, so read the policy again before you make videos in bulk: TikTok Shop content policy (in Thai).
TikTok's AI Video Maker compared with GenLabs
TikTok has its own AI video tool inside Seller Center. Both tools make a product video from photos. This table uses each side's own words. The TikTok side comes from its AI Video Maker page (21 September 2026, read 30 September 2026). The GenLabs side comes from our website and plans page. We have not tested the two tools against each other, so there is no ranking.
| Point | AI Video Maker in Seller Center | GenLabs |
|---|---|---|
| Where you use it | Seller Center on a computer (LIVE and videos > shoppable videos > create content) | A website you can use in a mobile browser |
| What you need first | A product that is approved and active in your Shop, and at least 3 usable photos, or 1 product video of at least 15 seconds | A product photo (a phone photo is fine) and the style of video you pick |
| What it costs | You buy tokens for each model (Seedance 2.0 or 2.0 Mini) from BytePlus, and you need a BytePlus account | Credits in a monthly plan (see question 5) |
| Length | 15-30 seconds (mixed with real footage) or 15 seconds (all AI) | 10-15 seconds, 20 seconds and 30 seconds |
| The time it states | About 30 minutes for each video | In 2 minutes (as the GenLabs website states) |
| The person in the video | The page does not mention a presenter (you can pick the language and a male or female voice) | You can pick a Thai AI presenter, a personality and a scene |
| After it is made | Edit in the video editor. TikTok writes "unlimited editing before you publish", then post to TikTok or download it from the library | Download the file, or schedule a post to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook for supported accounts |
The 30 minutes and the 2 minutes are numbers each side wrote itself. They are measured in different ways, so do not compare them directly.
How to choose, from the facts in the table: if the product is approved in your Shop, you have at least 3 usable photos and you work on a computer, TikTok's tool is a fit, because it sits where you will post. If you want to work from a phone, or pick a Thai AI presenter yourself, use GenLabs. Use it too if you want to schedule the same video to Instagram and Facebook.
Making the product video in GenLabs: four steps to the post
GenLabs makes a vertical video from your product photo. You do not write prompts (the instructions you type to an AI). GenLabs writes them. In GenLabs you can:
- Shoot the product photo so the whole product shows (section 2), then upload it.
- Pick a Thai AI presenter, a personality and a scene, and the length (10-15 seconds, 20 seconds or 30 seconds). GenLabs states it takes 2 minutes.
- Run the basket-match test from section 1. If a shot does not match the product page, make it again.
- Download the video, or schedule a post to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook for supported accounts.
More on video from a product photo: make a video from one product photo. If you want a presenter to speak Thai about the product, see AI video with a Thai-speaking presenter. Opening a shop, getting a product approved and adding a product are TikTok's steps. GenLabs does not do them for you.
Social publishing is part of every plan. The Startup plan is ฿599 a month and connects 1 social account. The Pro and Business plans connect unlimited accounts. See all plans and prices.
Limits to know before you make an AI product video
This page helps a video match its product. It cannot do many other things:
- We have not measured the examples on this page. We did not sell with them in TikTok Shop. We have no sales or view numbers, and we do not know which kind of video brings more orders.
- The basket-match test needs your eyes. An AI does not know what your real product looks like. Letters on a label or on screen can come out wrong. Watch every shot before you post.
- The spoken lines in our example video belong to that example. They are not claims your real product can make. Use the facts, the price and the contents of your own product.
- TikTok's rules can change. We read the pages on 30 September 2026, and the oldest page we used is dated 27 January 2023.
- Two TikTok pages give different video file sizes. So we only say that 5 MB or less passes both.
- GenLabs does not open your shop or get your products approved. An AI-made video is a help, not the final answer.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use AI to make videos to sell in TikTok Shop?
Yes. TikTok Shop's Thai content policy (16 March 2026) allows AI-generated images, video and audio. You must follow the TikTok Community Guidelines and the Shop content policy. The same page bans content made to mislead. The product in the video must be the product you sell, so run the basket-match test before you post.
How do I open a TikTok Shop, and what documents do I need?
Sign up in Seller Center with a TikTok account or an email and phone number. Choose your country and business type. Enter your warehouse and return addresses. Upload your verification documents. A sole trader uses a passport, ID card or driving licence. A company uses the ID of its legal representative or director, plus a business licence. Then wait for approval and link a bank account. The full steps are on TikTok's page, linked in section 4.
What size must photos and videos be for a TikTok Shop listing?
You can add up to 9 photos per product. Ratio 1:1, at least 600 x 600 pixels, up to 10 MB each. You can add 1 video per product. The listing guidelines say up to 5 MB. The page on adding and managing products says the recommended ratio is 1:1, 9:16 or 16:9. It says the file is up to 20 MB. Because the pages disagree, a video of 5 MB or less passes both.
How long should a TikTok selling video be?
TikTok Shop Academy in Thai (27 January 2023) says 15-30 seconds lets viewers enjoy the information most (old advice, not a rule). TikTok's AI Video Maker makes 15-30 seconds (mixed with real footage) or 15 seconds (all AI). GenLabs makes videos of 10-15 seconds, 20 seconds and 30 seconds.
How many credits does a product video use in GenLabs?
A 10-15 second video uses 15 credits. For other lengths, see the plans page. The Startup plan (฿599 a month) has 80 credits, which is 5 videos of 10-15 seconds. Pro (฿1,990) has 400 credits, which is 26 videos. Business (฿4,990) has 1,600 credits, which is 106 videos. This is if you spend all the credits on video. Plan credits do not carry over to the next period.
Can I use a GenLabs video on Instagram and Facebook too?
Yes. GenLabs lets you download the video, or schedule a post to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook for supported accounts. Social publishing is part of every plan. The Startup plan connects 1 social account. The Pro and Business plans connect unlimited accounts.
